Visa free countries

Citizens can enter Ukraine without a visa and stay for the number of days specified on this website: https://mfa.gov.ua/en/consular-affairs/entering-ukraine/visa-requirements-for-foreigners.

E-visa

Citizens of certain countries can apply for a tourism e-visa. The following copies of documents are required:

Documents required:

  • Photo (35*45mm) with these requirements: https://evisa.mfa.gov.ua/Request/DownloadICAOPhotoRequirementsPDF
  • Valid passport (containing the personal data)
  • Health insurance policy (with a coverage of at least 30.000 euro or equivalent)
  • Proof of sufficient funds for example:
    • Confirming hotel reservation or payment of accommodation or dining in Ukraine
    • Agreement of tourist services
    • A letter of guarantee from the inviting party that it undertakes the commitments on payment of all cost related to the foreigner stay in Ukraine
    • A fixed date ticket for return to the state of nationality, state of permanent residence or to a third state.
  • Document confirming the purpose of the visit (in Ukrainian or English) for example:
    • Confirming hotel reservation
    • Tourist services voucher
    • Confirmation of tourist services (culture, recreation)

Fill in electronic form

Keep the following thing in mind:

  • An application form cannot be issued earlier than 3 months before visit and not less than 10 working days before visit.

When you visit the website for the first time you should select the language you want in the top right corner.

In order to start applying for an e-visa you need to create an account. So click on the register button and fill in the form like the example below:

You will receive an confirmation in your e-mail-account, click on this link to register your account.

Once you have clicked on this link you will see the following screen, click on the press to access button:

You can log in by entering your credentials:

Once logged in click on fill in a new visa application form.

Enter the following requirements and click next.

You will see the following screen, and click continue once you have read everything.

Fill in the application form. And upload the documents that have been described above. Then click continue.

In the next screen you will have to pay the 85 USD fee by Mastercard/Visa. Your visa will be processed within 9 business days. And you will be e-mailed about the approval of your visa or denial.

E-visas are issued as single entry visas are valid for up to 30 days.

All applicants should submit their printed e-Visas (along with their valid travel documents) to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service officers when entering Ukraine.

Visa needed

Citizens of certain countries have to apply for a tourism visa (C type visas). The documents are required:

  • Photo (35*45mm)
  • Visa application form (https://mfa.gov.ua/mediafiles/files/misc/2018-02-02/2018-02-02_visapp_en.pdf)
  • Passport (valid 3 months after intented date of departure form Ukraine, have at least 2 pages free and be issued no more than 10 years)
  • Health insurance policy (with a coverage of at least 30.000 euro or equivalent)
  • Proof of sufficient funds for example:
    • Confirming hotel reservation or payment of accommodation or dining in Ukraine
    • Agreement of tourist services
    • A letter of guarantee from the inviting party that it undertakes the commitments on payment of all cost related to the foreigner stay in Ukraine
    • A fixed date ticket for return to the state of nationality, state of permanent residence or to a third state.
  • Document confirming the purpose of the visit (in Ukrainian or English) for example:
    • Confirming hotel reservation
    • Tourist services voucher
    • Confirmation of tourist services (culture, recreation)

The visa fee differs from country to country but ranges from 65 USD to 100 USD

The visa application has to be submitted to the following locations:

Entry into Ukraine

Air

Arrival

When crossing the border by plane the visa or passport (depending on the Nationality) will be checked and stamped. See the visa page for the entry requirements.

Departure

When exiting Ukraine there will be a passport control on board of the train. When everything is okay you are allowed to leave Ukraine.

Land: Road

Cars

Entry

When entering Ukraine at one of the border stations by a car there will be two waiting rows one with trucks and one with cars. The one with cars is generally much shorter, join this waiting row. When you are allowed to enter the control area. The first thing you have to visit is a booth where you are asked to show your passport and car registration documents (you will receive a credit sized paper with your license plate number on it). You will also stamp your passport that you are allowed to drive your car in Ukraine for 2 months due to temporary export.

Followed by the passport control where passengers also need to show their passports and visas if applicable, the passports will be stamped and the paper will be stamped too. There need to be filled in an immigration card which need to be kept the whole journey, an example of an immigration card can be found here: https://dpsu.gov.ua/upload/file/mm_grac_yna_kartka.pdf

Next is the customs control where you will be asked to give the paper that was given to you. Once this is done you are allowed to enter Ukraine.

Documents needed for vehicle control:

  • Driving license
  • Passport
  • International driving license
  • User permit in case the car is not registered on your name
  • ‘Green Card’ International Motor Insurance Certificate
  • Vehicle registration certificate (original no copy)

Items need to be carried:

  • Warning triangle (every vehicle with 4+ wheels)
  • Headlamp beam deflectors. It differs per car but you have to have deflector stickers or configure the beam manually
  • First aid kit and fire extinguisher
  • Helmet is compulsory for motorcyclists
  • Winter tyres (in the period November to April) with a minimum thread depth of 6mm. The use of snow chains is allowed

Exit

When exiting Ukraine, the passport with the stamp must be showed again, there will be checked if the amount of passengers is still the same. When everything is okay you are allowed to cross the border with one of their neighboring countries. The guides for those countries can be found here

Bus

Entry

When crossing the border by bus the visa or passport (depending on the Nationality) will be checked and stamped.

Exit

When exiting Ukraine there will be a passport control. When everything is okay you are allowed to leave Ukraine.

Railroad

Entry

When crossing the border by train the visa or passport (depending on the Nationality) will be checked and stamped. The passport control is on board of the train. See the visa page for the entry requirements.

Exit

When exiting Ukraine there will be a passport control on board of the train. When everything is okay you are allowed to leave Ukraine.

Sea

Entry

When entering Ukraine by boat your passport and/or visa will be checked when getting in the country. See the visa page for the entry requirements.
